Prerequisite: Basic knife skills and prior kitchen experience recommended.

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., daily
Our Advanced Junior Chef Camp is designed for the student who is comfortable in the kitchen but ready to tackle professional techniques. This isn't just about following recipes—it’s about understanding the "Why" behind the food. Over four days, we will dive into the science of emulsification and the art of "mise en place."
Ages: 8–12 years old
Skills and Techniques:
- Learn basic cooking techniques and kitchen safety
- Explore different flavors and ingredients
- Work as a team to prepare and serve food the right way
Daily menu highlights:
- Day 1 — Intro to Pasta: Ravioli from scratch; Red sauce; Caesar salad
- Day 2 — Taco Tuesday: Tortillas from scratch; Salsa; Marinating/grilling meats; Mexican slaw; Rice; Beans
- Day 3 — Southern Cooking: Baked mac 'n' cheese; Jalapeño corn bread; How to butcher/brine chicken; How to fry chicken
- Day 4 — Steak House: Picanha steak; Smashed/fried potatoes; Roasted veggies; Steak sauce; Chocolate mousse

What to expect in a hands-on Harmons Cooking School class:
- You’ll work together with other students in a fun, hands-on environment led by professional chef instructors.
- You will be working in small groups, sharing workstations and equipment.
- Class times are noted above.
- Kids will be standing, cooking, and working for most of the class.
Safety and attire:
- Please have kids wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and long pants.
- Long hair should be tied back. Short sleeves are okay, but not sleeveless.
