The Race:
A mini enduro is a race where the rider is only timed racing downhill. This mini enduro has three stages: Buckaroo, Mutton Bustin’, and Yee Haw. There is a course map on the FOH Trails website.
Parking and check-in:
Participants will park at the Blackridge Reservoir. If there is no parking available, riders can be dropped off and cars parked down on Juniper Road. Please be mindful of the no parking areas in the neighborhood.
Check-in will begin at 5:45 pm.
Safety and gear:
Safety is our first priority. Helmets are mandatory. Knee pads, elbow pads, and full-face helmets are not required, but are allowed. Be sure your rider’s bike is in good working condition. Racers should bring water and any snacks they might need during the race.
Participant items:
Participants will receive a number they can personalize, decorate, and attach to their bike. They will also receive a ticket for free shaved ice that they can redeem after all their stages have been completed.
Stage 1 start times:
- 6:20 — 1-2 grade
- 6:30 — 3-4 grade
- 6:45 — 5-6 grade
Please allow enough time for your rider to ride up to the start line so they arrive on time (it’s a little over a half mile pedal).
Race flow:
When the rider has completed Stage 1, they will ride up to the start of Stage 2. Riders will start Stage 2 and Stage 3 as they arrive, first come, first serve. When Stage 3 is completed, racers will go to the trailhead to get their free shaved ice and wait for results. Awards will be given to the top three racers in each category. Podiums will take place after all racers have completed all three stages.
Spectators and trail use:
Parents are welcome to follow their riders on their own bike if they wish. If watching from the side of the trail, be aware of racers and do not block the trail. All trails will remain open to the public, so trail users who are not racing will be given access to trails between racers. Racers will line up on the side of the trail, allowing other trail users room to pass.
Registration and details:
Fill out the registration form to reserve your rider’s spot, pay your fee, sign the waivers, and make an additional donation if you’d like. The race will be capped at 50 participants. More details can be found on the Friends of Herriman Trails website: www.friendsofherriman.org/trails/
