What happens when the demon possessing your son is actually better behaved than your son?

That's the question at the heart of Possessive! The Musical!, a high-energy pop-punk comedy about teenage rebellion, exhausted parents, demonic possession, and learning to love the family you have instead of the perfect family you imagined.

Set in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, at the turn of the millennium, Possessive! The Musical! follows Lisa, a rebellious teenage goth who attempts a DIY occult ritual to summon her celebrity crush. She doesn't get James Dean. She gets a demon. And the demon possesses her little brother.

But there's a problem.

The demon is polite. He's helpful. Respectful. Clean. He listens to his parents. In fact, he's considerably easier to live with than the nightmare teenager, Darien, who used to inhabit the body. So Lisa's exhausted parents, Carl and Hannah, make a decision no parents have ever made before: Maybe they don't need to exorcise him just yet.

But when the demon's mysterious minion, Nayby, reveals that they have only one moon cycle to remove the demon…or lose their son forever…the family finds itself racing against the clock to send their hellspawn houseguest back to where he came from.

Along the way, they discover that the perfect family may not be the family you dreamed of. It may simply be the family you have. And sometimes, that's more than enough.

Possessive! The Musical! isn't your traditional musical. Its original score draws from the sounds and attitude of the late 1990s and early 2000s, blending pop-punk, rock, ballads, and rap into a soundtrack built for a family that has absolutely no idea what to do with a demon in the living room.

The early-2000s setting brings its own nostalgic flavor: dial-up internet, Discman culture, goth kids, celebrity crushes, questionable fashion choices, and even the brief and glorious reign of purple Heinz ketchup.

The result is a musical world that is both nostalgic and completely unhinged.
