About
Grid City Music Fest returns August 21–23 for its fifth anniversary, transforming South Salt Lake's Creative Industries Zone into Utah's largest celebration of local music. Featuring more than 70 Utah bands on 10 stages, nearly 90 world-class murals, award-winning breweries, local restaurants, artists, and makers, the festival is expected to draw more than 5,000 attendees for three days of music and community. Grid City is dedicated exclusively to showcasing Utah's incredible local talent while supporting the independent businesses that make The Zone such a unique destination.
The Commonwealth Room is proud to host the festival's free Opening Night Showcase on Friday, August 21, featuring the Terence Hansen Trio, BadFeather, and Advent Horizon.
With the release of their latest full-length album, "Falling Together," Salt Lake City-based progressive rock band Advent Horizon is making waves internationally. This powerhouse record expands upon the group's signature cinematic progressive rock sound, introducing heavier instrumental arrangements, complex vocal layering delivered by their three lead vocalists, and a compelling concept exploring whether one's deeply held beliefs are truly their own or were planted in them during their impressionable youth. With overwhelmingly positive reviews from music critics worldwide, "Falling Together" has set the stage for Advent Horizon to tour internationally. In the coming year, the band will be playing across the USA, and in Europe, in addition to a very limited set of hometown shows. Don’t miss out, join the latest resurgence of progressive rock music!
BadFeather is a Salt Lake City rock powerhouse led by acclaimed songwriters Rick Gerber (Tanglewood, Labcoat) and Jeremy Whitesides (The Pour). Blending rock, soul, funk, Southern influences, and improvisational jam-band energy, the band delivers raw, honest performances built around memorable songwriting and exceptional musicianship. For this special performance, BadFeather is joined by bassist Dan Error (Ulysses, Tanglewood), who played on the band's album Signal Path, and drummer Dave Brogan (ALO). Featuring music from Flight Pattern, selections from the forthcoming Mala Pluma, and fan favorites, BadFeather creates an electrifying live experience that leaves audiences wanting more.
