"Of all the adventurous things the rock band known as Ween has done over their career, recording a straight-up country album with legendary Nashville session musicians was probably the most surprising." Powder Blue pays homage to Ween's "12 Golden Country Greats", featuring a medley of Salt Lake's best musicians, spearheaded by a 4 piece core that explores other alternative-rock covers, classic (and not-so-classic) honky tonk, and funky originals.
The evening begins with a short set of original music from J-Rad Cooley's Cajun Cowboys (a slimmed down honky-tonk blues combo), followed by Powder Blue, which evolves from its rock & roll core to a full-blown 10-piece outfit accompanied by fiddle, steel guitar, keys, harmonica, and more.
