A Hygge Celebration
Harmons Station Park Cooking School
Friday, December 11, 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Chef Laura
We love to celebrate here in the Cooking School, and we’re extending the invitation to you to celebrate this season in a new way: the Scandi way! Picture yourself in a cozy, warm kitchen, with twinkling decor nearby and savory smells filling the air. That is hygge. Scandinavian food celebrates hearty meats and vegetables with delicious gravies and sauces, much like American holiday menus. You’ll add new recipes to your repertoire and learn to make them like the pros, all while clinking glasses and laughing with friends you bring and ones you meet here.
You’ll make:
- Smørrebrød (smuhr-broht): Open-faced rye bread, Norwegian salmon lox, and silky dill beurre blanc
- Köttbullar, Swedish meatballs (CHUT-boo-lar): Served with lingonberry jam. Not made by any Henson-esque Swedish chefs.
- Kalops (kah-lohps): Seared beef short ribs braised in savory gravy, whipped buttery golden potato and parsnip, served traditionally alongside pickled beets with roasted root vegetable mélange
- Risengrynsgrøt (REE-sen-gryn-sgruht): Warmed and spiced rice pudding
- Glögg (Glue-g): Swedish mulled wine
- Glögg(ish): Mocktail offering
We take all the hard work away. We measure, instruct, help, and even clean up. At the end of the evening, you’ll clink glasses over a cozy Scandinavian meal you made all on your own. Any leftovers you can take with you! Forget stuffy, boring instructional cooking classes that are awkward and intimidating. Our staff is exceptional at making you feel welcome, regardless of skill level. Have a hygge evening!
