Freedom’s Light Festival is a free, three-day event celebrating American history and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The festival brings history to life with live reenactments, hands-on activities, and interactive storytelling focused on the nation's founding.
Features include appearances by actors portraying Founding Fathers and Revolutionary leaders such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abigail Adams; colonial artisans like blacksmiths, coopers, chandler, and calligraphers; Revolutionary War cannon and musket demonstrations; opportunities to meet modern veterans; and booths including a colonial book and gift store.

- Soldier March in the green north of Ellis Island
- Friday, Sept 18:

- Multiple Declaration recitations
- Give Me Liberty Musical at the stage (7:00 pm)
- Lantern Light Reel & Revel open dance (8:00 pm)
- Saturday, Sept 19:
- Booths open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
- Musket and cannon firings
- Candy cannon firings
- Give Me Liberty Musical (3:00 pm)
The festival welcomes adults, kids, and teens, with age-appropriate attractions and activities for all. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
Food booths offer hamburgers, hot dogs, Navajo tacos, salads, scones with honey butter, cookies, chips, and drinks.
