About
Join us at the Utah Film Center for an evening of short films highlighting the importance of saline lakes, the birds that rely on them, and the people who are working to protect them.
Shoreline Sentinels of Great Salt Lake is a 16-minute film about Snowy Plovers—a small ground-nesting shorebird that nests throughout the busy recreation season at Great Salt Lake—and the people working to help them. Great Salt Lake is home to the largest non-coastal breeding population of western Snowy Plovers, but their nesting area overlaps with the most heavily used part of the lake.
The National Audubon Society, Tracy Aviary, and our team of volunteers are studying how recreation impacts the birds and calling attention to a species that most people don’t even realize exists at Great Salt Lake.
Featuring a post-film Q&A with the Audubon Society and our researchers working with Snowy Plovers on the shores of Great Salt Lake.
