About
The Salt Lake Book Festival is a literary event taking place at The Gateway in Salt Lake City on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The festival is designed for everyone—from devoted readers to those new to books—and features high-energy author conversations, panel discussions, signings, and a curated marketplace. Programming happens across multiple stages, including:
- ~400-seat main stage
- ~200-seat stage at Kiln co-working space
- family-focused stage with story time for young readers
General festival access and the marketplace are free and open to the public. Some programming and select festival areas, as well as 'The Prologue' event on Friday, October 16 at the downtown library, require advance tickets. Early access tickets are available for those who subscribe for updates.
Families, kids, tweens, and first-time visitors are welcome; the festival aims to make reading accessible and exciting for all ages.
Up to 4,500 attendees are expected for the inaugural year. Attendees can get involved as volunteers or vendors, and donations help keep the festival free and vibrant. For specific author appearances and event updates, follow the organizers or subscribe to their newsletter.
