About
Nihon Matsuri celebrates Japanese and Japanese American culture, history, and traditions in Utah. The event is open to all and aims to share and educate the larger Utah community, as well as pass on Japanese traditions to younger generations of Japanese Americans.
Date and time: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Event highlights:
- Stage performances starting at 10:00 AM with Kenshin Taiko; opening ceremony at 10:10 AM. Acts include taiko performances, kids performances, cosplay showcases, a mini live by Mari Iijima, kimono presentation by Utah Japanese Language School, Japanese dance by Tracy Aki and moto, Okinawa Kenminkai folk performance, and raffle drawings.
- Martial Arts Demonstrations at the Japanese Church of Christ PLAZA, featuring Monk Wise Martial Arts Academy; Zen Bu Kan (traditional Japanese swordsmanship); USA Stars of Salt Lake City Judo Club; Aikido Mountain West Iaido; Echo Martial Arts; and Salt City Sumo.
- Cosplay Showcases at 11:40 AM and 2:20 PM.
- Tea Ceremony sessions at the Japanese Church of Christ with six sessions throughout the day (10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM). Tickets for each session are distributed before that session.
- Temple tours and various exhibits at the Salt Lake Buddhist Temple are available from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Admission or donation details are not specified. Registration for certain programs such as the tea ceremony requires picking up tickets at the scheduled times.
