Freedom’s Light Festival is a free 3-day event where participants can learn about the American Constitution and the nation's founding through live reenactments, hands-on activities, and interactive storytelling. The event marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, making it a semiquincentennial celebration.
The festival takes place September 17-19, 2026, at Bountiful City Park, 400 N 200 W, Bountiful, UT.
The event is open to all ages with activities and reenactments designed for adults, teens, and kids.
Scheduled attractions include:
- Thursday, Sept 17:
- 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Booths open
- Recitation of Declaration of Independence and appearances by Frederick Douglass
- Soldier March
- Friday, Sept 18:
- 9:00 am – 9:00 pm Booths open
- Recitations, reenactments, and live musical (Give Me Liberty Musical)
- Lantern Light Reel & Revel (Open Dance) in the evening
- Saturday, Sept 19:
- 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Booths open
- Musket and cannon demonstrations
- Candy Cannon Firing
- Give Me Liberty Musical
The event also features historical figures such as George Washington, Abigail Adams, Frederick Douglass, and many others, as well as colonial life artisans—blacksmiths, coopers, and more.
Visitors can enjoy food booths (hamburgers, hot dogs, Navajo tacos, etc.) and a colonial book and gift store.
Admission is free, and no advance registration is mentioned.
