Clip Payne’s 420 Funk Mob
420 FUNK MOB: THE COSMIC REVOLUTION
"The bridge between the classic Mothership Connection and the future of psychedelic rock n’ soul."
THE LEGACY: BORN FROM THE P-FUNK ALL-STARS
Led by the indomitable Michael "Clip" Payne — a veteran centerpiece of George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic since 1977 — the 420 Funk Mob (420FM) is not a tribute band. It is a living, breathing evolution of the most influential groove machine in history. Clip Payne (famously known as "The Man in the Box") has been the on-stage commentator and vocal catalyst for P-Funk’s legendary live tours. With 420FM, he takes that cosmic energy and pivots it into a blisteringly modern, genre-smashing collective.
THE SOUND: WHERE SUN RA MEETS JIMI HENDRIX
420FM features a rotating "Deep Bench" of Rock & Roll Hall of Famers and P-Funk royalty, special guests, and new blood. No matter the configuration, 420FM delivers a high-octane "Sonic Assault." Their live shows are a shape-shifting journey that blends the visceral swagger of Sly Stone, the improvisational chaos of the Grateful Dead, and the raw power of Jimi Hendrix. Whether performing as a lean, hard-hitting six-piece or a massive 18-piece "Funkestra" complete with horns and dual drummers, the result is the same: an immersive, "indescribably stank" eargasm that stretches the funk like taffy.
