About

Byrdcliffe is thrilled to welcome back the celebrated modern dance troupe, Linda Diamond & Company, to the Kleinert James Gallery for an afternoon of modern dance performance.

The Company will perform seven diverse routines, brought to life by professional dancers Nina Deacon, Isabel Crosti, Claudia Logi, and Mailys Dumas Lattaque. The program includes:

  • Angels Rising: A premiere by choreographer Linda Diamond, featuring original music by composer and music director Tom Desisto.
  • A Reason to Dance: A recent piece set to music by Desisto, accompanied by poetry and choreography written by Diamond.
  • Charade: A recently revived contemporary spoof on the justice system. Originally premiered at Lincoln Center’s Bruno Walter Auditorium, it weaves together works by iconic American and contemporary composers Henry Mancini, Philip Glass, Leonard Bernstein, and David Van Tieghem.
  • Las Escondidas: A duet performed with traditional Sephardic music.
  • Works by Pioneer Anna Sokolow: Two pieces by the legendary modern dance pioneer, including House of Fun and a moving solo performance of Kaddish set to the music of Maurice Ravel.
  • Cielo: A tribute to Anna Sokolow choreographed by Diamond, with music by Isaac Albéniz.

Live musical interludes between each dance work will be presented by composer and guitarist Tom Desisto alongside his wife, jazz and blues singer Terry Blaine. Former 15-year-old student dancer Luna Anata will also provide short dance accompaniment during select live music sets.

A suggested donation of $20 for adults and $6 for children helps support the ongoing cultural and educational efforts of Byrdcliffe and Linda Diamond & Company.

Advance tickets are available for purchase.
