La Esmeralda Ballet Variations and Gratitude
MAY 9th
“La Esmeralda Ballet Variations” are drawn from La Esmeralda, inspired by the novel The Hunchback of Notre-Dame by Victor Hugo. The story centers on Esmeralda, a kind-hearted gypsy dancer whose beauty and compassion attract the attention of several men, including the hunchbacked bell-ringer Quasimodo. The ballet weaves together drama, romance, and friendship, capturing the emotional intensity, passion, and human vulnerability of the Romantic era.
“Gratitude” represents the Second and Third acts. It blends Contemporary, ballet, jazz, jazz-Broadway, and Latin styles. Each piece explores themes of love, faith, growth, deception, and friendship, expressing gratitude to God for every stage of life.
