Three sisters reunite in their late father’s back yard, transforming the task of sorting his belongings into a raw, electrifying reimagining of Shakespeare’s King Lear. As childhood games collide with adult grief, the sisters slip between roles—parent and child, ruler and rebel—exposing the stormy legacy of family, memory, and forgiveness.

With biting humor and aching honesty, the play explores how we inherit not just possessions, but wounds and love, asking: how do we keep hold of selfhood as we weather the past together?

Bios

Katherine Callaway (Cordelia) is making her Bridge Street Theatre debut. Her regional credits include: John Proctor is the Villain (Huntington Theatre); Haunted (Company One); Rooted, Be Here Now (Lyric Stage Boston); Sugar (Fresh Ink Theater); oh to be pure again (Newton Theater Company); The Suppliant Women (Apollinaire Theatre Company); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Boston Theater Company); and What Remains Hidden (Is Still Known) a devised play with Rinde Eckert. Katherine holds a BFA in Acting from Emerson College and is a West Virginia native. Jess Kadish (Regan) last played Regan in King Lear with Montana Shakespeare in the Parks and is so glad to return to this version of her in Storm Still. Other recent regional credits include American Shakespeare Center (Taming of the Shrew, Much Ado About Nothing, and Measure for Measure, among others), Renaissance Theatre (Fun Home), 16th Street Theater (Alabaster), The Gift Theater (The Locusts), and New Jewish Theatre (I Now Pronounce). Recent New York appearances include Love’s Labor’s Lost with Back Room Shakespeare Project / Catskill Mountain Shakespeare and Say Gay Plays with Voyage Theater at NYU Skirball. She holds an MFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a longtime company member with Chicago’s 2nd Story collective, where she writes, directs, and curates personal narrative performance. When she’s not onstage, she’s probably swimming in Lake Minnewaska or Lake Sophia, or supporting the work of Columbia County Sanctuary Movement and Ulster Rapid Response (check them out!).
