Women in the Revolution: Soldiers, Spies, and Diplomats
Have you heard about the “midnight ride”? I’ll bet you haven’t heard about the real one made by a 16-year-old girl. Did you know that women were as integral to the Continental Army as cannons or muskets? Is there a woman or two hidden in the background of these heroic scenes? The hidden history of the efforts and sacrifices of women for the Revolution is as fascinating as the stories of George Washington crossing the Delaware.
