Intermediate Sewing: Bestie Bag
This class will run for 3 sessions: June 3, 10 & 17
Time: 5:30 - 7:30pm
Instructor: Gabrielle Lau
Learn to sew a cute everyday "Bestie Bag" in this intermediate course! You will learn how to read/cut a pattern, install a zip, and fully line a bag in this 3 week session. This class is for intermediate sewists so you should know how to use your machine, sew basic stitches, and know the basic sewing terms.
You will also need the following supplies:
Fabric recommendations:
- Main: medium to heavyweight woven fabrics (lightweight denim, twill, canvas). Quilting cotton can be used for a drapier look but you would definitely have to use interfacing/batting.
- Lining: lightweight wovens (quilting weight cotton, poplin, etc.)
Sizing & yardage:
- Medium size: ~1 yd main fabric; ~1 yd lining fabric; ~1 yd interfacing (optional but recommended for a more structured bag, I recommend fusible fleece; you can pre-quilt your fabric if you want to use batting).
- Large size: 1.2 yd main fabric; 1.1 yd lining fabric; 1 yd interfacing.
Notions:
- ~1.5" webbed strap (bag webbing) optional, you can also make your own strap from your fabric (you might need extra fabric for this option).
- Slide adjuster (if doing adjuster option, not needed if you do the tie closure).
- 1x 15" #5 closed end zipper (Medium size).
- 1x 21" #5 closed end zipper (Large size).
- Zipper foot (highly recommended).
Pricing:
- Member: $86 plus $10 materials fee for printed copy of pattern
- Non-Member: $98 plus $10 materials fee for printed copy of pattern
