About

The Railroading History of Kaaterskill Junction: A Hike with Paul LaPierre

Step back in time on a history hike, sponsored by the Mountain Top Historical Society, to the days when the Stony Clove and Catskill Mountain Railroad came up from Phoenicia to the Junction, then split west on the Hunter Branch and east on the Tannersville Branch. Walking over old railroad beds with Paul LaPierre of the Empire State Railway Museum, hikers will examine the layout of the Junction, visit the remains of the Electric Light Dam Bridge over the Schoharie Creek, and take a side excursion to the new Hunter Branch Rail Trail pedestrian bridge over a Schoharie Creek tributary.
