About

Folkus presents Acoustic Guitar Project on Friday, November 6 at 7:30pm. Online ticket sales end at noon on the day of the show.

“One guitar. One week. One song.” Featuring Isto, Edgar Pagan, Jessie Elizabeth, Clove, and Neil Minet.

The Acoustic Guitar Project is a global music platform and concert series that inspires musicians to write and record a song in one week on the same guitar. The project began in New York City and now takes place in more than 50 cities around the world, including Syracuse.

Curated by Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers, the Syracuse project is celebrating its 13th year. To date, 65 songs have been written on the Syracuse guitar, donated by Maryland’s Minor Bird Instruments. This fall, five more Central New York artists will join the tradition.

The project helps musicians reconnect with the original moment that inspired them to become singer/songwriters. Rodgers says its beauty is in its spontaneity: songwriters may start the week expecting to write one kind of song and finish with something drastically different. Join us as we listen to where the guitar takes them.

“We’re definitely one of the smaller places [with an Acoustic Guitar Project] out there but I feel like the music scene here can hold its own against the music scene in all these much larger places.” —Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers, Acoustic Guitar Project curator, quoted in Syracuse New Times
