In this hands-on workshop, participants will bring new life to an existing textile through embroidery, embellishment, and creative repair. Bring an old shirt, hat, pillowcase, tote bag, or other fabric item that needs repair, feels too plain, or has the potential for something more.

The workshop begins with an introduction to basic embroidery techniques. Participants will then develop a plan for their chosen object and explore stitching, beading, patching, and other forms of embellishment to transform an everyday object into something personal and expressive.

The workshop encourages participants to view imperfections, wear, and damage as opportunities for creativity. Rather than replacing a worn or damaged object, participants will explore how artistic intervention can give it new life and meaning.

Taught by Everson Teaching Artist Catherine Spencer.
