Dead to the Core: An Acoustic Celebration of the Grateful Dead

Dead to the Core is a collective of singer-songwriters and acoustic musicians who explore the musical world of the Grateful Dead — not through note-for-note re-creations but by playing the songs their own way, with unexpected instrumental colors and lush vocal harmonies.

This show features the all-star Syracuse-based Dead to the Core band:
- Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers (John Lennon Songwriting Contest winner) — guitar and Strumstick
- Tim Burns (Two Hour Delay) — guitar and mandolin
- Wendy Sassafras Ramsay (Starting Off Red) — accordion, flute, and clarinet
- Josh Dekaney (Mary Fahl) — percussion/drum kit
- John Dancks (the Cadleys) — upright bass

The band’s repertoire spans classics and rarities from the Grateful Dead as well as Jerry Garcia Band, Garcia and Grisman, and Old and in the Way — sometimes mashed up with originals by Dead to the Core’s own songwriters.

Interspersed with the music are clips from Rodgers’ interviews with Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, in which they reflect on the roots and evolution of the music.

A Dead to the Core show is a night of deeply personal performances that illuminate the masterful song craft of one of America’s most original bands. Grateful Dead music right down to the core.

Ticket info:
- The 443 is an intimate listening room with table service that seats 75 people.
- The green squares/circles on the floor plan are bar-height tables; the orange squares are regular-height tables.
- Most seats are sold as “Tables for Two” — the ticket admits TWO people.
- A limited number of single seats are available; single attendees may be sharing a table with other single attendees.
- Multiple tickets purchased under the same name will automatically be seated together (up to 6 people).
- Requesting a specific table is a perk reserved for VIP Patron members.
- If anyone in your party needs special seating arrangements (walker, cane, service animal, wheelchair, low table requirement, or you want to be seated with another party), please EMAIL US after you place your order.
- All tickets are WILL CALL — no need to print anything out; just give your name at the door.
