$20 Non-Members | $16 Members
Inspired by zines created for social justice movements, like Fire!! and Riot Grrrl, this family-friendly workshop will lead participants in creating their own zines using the “garbage zine” method. This method uses whatever you have on hand, such as old newspapers, packing, fabric scraps, or anything else around you, to make a mini 8-page zine.
All materials will be provided. No experience necessary!
The workshop is taught by Normandie Luscher-Acevedo, an author and illustrator whose work often depicts slice-of-life stories with distinctive characters. Normandie is an Assistant Professor at Syracuse University, where her current research focuses on developing narrative graphic novels and comics in graphic medicine. Her work has been recognized by American Illustration, Creative Quarterly, and Applied Arts Illustration Magazine, among others.
