Saved from demolition by dedicated volunteers in 1966, the Syracuse Wurlitzer was relocated to the New York State Fairgrounds and restored to its original factory specifications. In 2025, the instrument marked its 100th anniversary. It is preserved as an original example of the American theatre pipe organ art form and is listed on the National Registry of Historic and Significant Instruments by the American Theatre Organ Society. In 2016, Wurlitzer Opus 1143 was designated a National Heritage Pipe Organ by the Organ Historical Society and an Organ of Historical Significance, Worthy of Preservation.
The non-profit Empire State Theatre & Musical Instrument Museum is located in the Creative Arts Center on the New York State Fairgrounds.
