David Kim Leads The Four Seasons​

The Philadelphia Orchestra concertmaster and violinist David Kim takes center stage as both leader and soloist in a performance celebrating SPAC’s 60th anniversary theme, Seasons. Featuring beloved and highly recognizable works from the classical repertoire, this program is aimed at orchestra fans and newcomers alike.

Ticketing and parking notes:
- All e-tickets for The Philadelphia Orchestra will be sent one week prior to the performance date. Contact the Box Office with any questions at 518-584-9330.
- Web and phone ticket purchases will incur a $7 service fee; no fees are applied for in-person ticket purchases at the Box Office.
- Premier parking is available as an optional upgrade for $20 (limited spaces). General admission parking is free.

About David Kim:
David Kim was named Concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra in 1999. Born in Carbondale, Illinois in 1963, he began playing the violin at age three, studied with Dorothy DeLay beginning at age eight, and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Juilliard School.

His 2025–26 season includes solo and guest concertmaster engagements in Korea and Hong Kong, featured performances with The Philadelphia Orchestra (including a conductorless program of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto under guest conductor Rafael Payare), and concerto, recital, and chamber music appearances across the Americas. In summer he returns to the Aspen Music Festival and School as faculty and concertmaster and serves as concertmaster of the Mainly Mozart Festival All-Star Orchestra in San Diego.

Mr. Kim is Distinguished Artist at the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University. He presents masterclasses at conservatories worldwide and serves as an adjudicator at international violin competitions such as the Menuhin and Sarasate. He appears as concertmaster of the All-Star Orchestra on PBS and online at the Khan Academy. His book, The Audition Method for Violin, was released in 2022.

He has received Honorary Doctorates from Eastern University, the University of Rhode Island, and Dickinson College. His instruments include a J. B. Guadagnini (Milan, ca. 1757) on loan from The Philadelphia Orchestra and a Francesco Gofriller (Venice, ca. 1735). He endorses Larsen Strings. He is an avid golfer and outdoorsman.

- Drones
- Professional audio or video recording equipment
- Cameras with detachable lenses
- Bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, scooters, etc.
- Pets (except ADA approved service animals)
- Illegal drugs or substances
- Weapons of any kind

Ground Rules:
- Security procedure: all bags will be inspected and all personnel may be screened via metal detectors. Bags include coolers, baskets, tote bags, purses, diaper bags, strollers, and other containers. Prohibited items should be disposed of or returned to your vehicle.
- Smoking is permitted only in designated areas; please dispose of cigarette butts properly.
- Guests may bring blankets and umbrellas but should consider others; disruptive items may be removed upon request.
- Reentry is permitted for SPAC-produced events with a reentry wristband obtained from gate staff prior to exiting.
- SPAC has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment. Report concerns to SPAC staff or security immediately.

Amphitheater House Rules for Classical Performances:
- "House" refers to seating inside the amphitheater; these rules apply inside the amphitheater for SPAC-produced events.
- Beverages are permitted in the amphitheater; food is not.
- Guests arriving after the performance begins will not be seated until the earliest appropriate opportunity at the discretion of House Staff.
- Please turn off or silence mobile devices prior to the start of the program; if an emergency requires device use, step outside the theater.
- Video, photography, audio, or cell phone recording during performances is prohibited.
