Location
About
With Dr. Erastus Betterov-Underhill and his Cult of Storytellers
“Creepy and chilling tales told by some of the region’s best storytellers…a great mix of classic legends, new stories and whispered folktales…spooky, eerie and fantastical.” — POST STAR
It’s Halloween, the night when ghosts and spirits roam the Earth. Hear comic, dark, and thought-provoking tales of witchcraft from Italy to Scotland to Ireland: stories of witches that haunt our nightmares, live in our suspicions, make us laugh, sear our souls, or heal them.
Storytellers: Barbara Chepaitis, Katherine Danforth-Hayes, Jackie DeGeorgis, Jewell Winant, Shawn Paper, and Isabel Coviello.
Dr. Betterov-Underhill (Kelvin Keraga) will be on hand to promote his line of Dead People products, including his “Don’t Go Thither” Zither, acclaimed in the lower world and banned on many of the outer planets. Shannah (Katherine Danforth-Hayes) will return with another episode of “Shannah’s Spell Closet!”
This year’s Whispering Bones includes:
- “Mama Draga,” a traditional Italian folktale told by Barbara Chepaitis.
- “The Sea’s Dead” by Katharine Tynan, performed by Katherine Danforth-Hayes. A strange girl comes to live on Achill Island off the coast of Ireland.
- “The Room in the Tower” by E. F. Benson. An invitation to a room full of nightmares.
- “The Tin Box,” a dark piece performed by Jewell Winant. What is in the box Irene left for her grandniece?
- “Ere the Fire/After the Fire” by Shawn Paper, performed by Shawn Paper and Isabel Coviello. The story of King James of Scotland and Agnes Sampson and a search for a witch.
