"Rocking...songs that inspire, enlighten and unify" —SiriusXM, "The Village"
"Fervent and heartfelt" —New York Times
Soaring harmonies and lush acoustic instruments soar on songs spanning folk to jazz and funk to rock. With genre-defying eclecticism, the duo Emma's Revolution — Pat Humphries on guitar, banjo, vocals, and Sandy O on guitar and vocals — brings not just music but an uprising of truth and hope for these unsettled times.
The award-winning duo has long harnessed the power of music to shine a light on cultural issues and promote the power of people working toward peace, environmental justice, and human rights. Their reach is wide; their powerful songs have been sung for the Dalai Lama and praised and sung by folk icons Pete Seeger, Ronnie Gilbert, and Holly Near. Featured on NPR's "All Things Considered" and Pacifica's "Democracy Now!", they have sung around the world.
Emma's Revolution carries on in the spirit of Seeger, their mentor. “We sing stories wrapped in the taste of freedom, the triumph of overcoming, the grief of injustice, weaving stories, melodies, and harmonies," says Humphries.
Very special guest Lisa Gutkin joins them onstage. The noted Grammy-winning fiddler, singer, Broadway performer, and member of America’s celebrated Klezmer band The Klezmatics brings another rich layer of sound to the music of her colleagues and friends.
Praised by the L.A. Times for “hauntingly emotional” vocals, Gutkin swings seamlessly among several music genres. She has co-authored songs with Anne Sexton, Maggie Dubris, and for Woody Guthrie's "Gonna Get Through This World," described by Pete Seeger as "a piece of genius."
Emma's Revolution and Lisa Gutkin: layer upon layer of harmony vocals, guitars, and fiddle for an evening of honesty, inspiration, heart, and great music.
