About
Since 1988, on the second Tuesday of each month from October to May, the free Music at Noon concert series has presented exceptional musicians with a diverse mix of musical styles. Come listen, and bring your lunch! The Hall opens at 11 AM for these noon concerts.
Hammerhead Horns are a five-piece group that play a variety of styles:
- Old-time Barrelhouse Blues
- Ragtime
- New Orleans Boogie Woogie
- Swing
- R&B
- Torch Ballads
- Gospel
They cover songs from the 1920s through the 1960s, playing everything from Fats Domino to Billie Holiday to Ray Charles to Muddy Waters. In addition to this catalog they include some of their own compositions that fit right in stylistically and have become audience favorites.
The four guys, who have a very long musical history, got together to do a one-time performance in the Fall of 2021. They had so much fun that they decided to keep it going. Not long after, they added vocalist Leslie Barkman, which took things to a brand new level.
Recognition for the band has been progressing quite well. They were recently nominated for a 2023 Capital District "Eddie Award".
The group's goal is to have a great time making great music that they love, and provide an epic great time to all who are listening and dancing!
