Stephen Kellogg

For more than two decades, Stephen Kellogg has built a career around songs, stories and humor that leave audiences laughing, thinking and somehow feeling a little better about the world when they walk out than they did when they came in.

A songwriter, troubadour, TEDx speaker, stand-up comic and author, Kellogg has performed thousands of shows around the world, earning a reputation as one of those rare performers who can move effortlessly from a beautifully written song to a hilarious story and back again without ever losing the emotional thread.

Planet Bluegrass calls him “a first class songwriter with a poet’s gift for fresh imagery,” while Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz says, “there are few people in rock n’ roll who are just so great.” Rolling Stone may have summed up his musical side best, describing his sound as “John Prine fronting the Heartbreakers.”

Kellogg’s career has also taken him far beyond the traditional singer-songwriter circuit. He has received the Armed Forces Entertainer of the Year Award, earned a Grammy for songwriting, and recently celebrated the 3,000th performance of his professional career with the double album Road to 3000 Live! His one-hour comedy special, Maybe This Will Work, has brought another side of his storytelling to audiences on Amazon Prime.

But all those accomplishments really lead back to the same thing: Stephen Kellogg knows how to connect with a room.

His shows cover a lot of emotional territory: family, love, disappointment, hope, growing older, trying again, and the absurdity that runs through all of it. He can make you laugh hard, catch you completely off guard with a song, and leave you thinking about something he said long after the lights come up.

At Caffè Lena, where there’s very little distance between artist and audience, that combination of music, humor and storytelling should feel especially at home.

Come ready to laugh, listen and leave with a full heart.
