About
Enter the magical world of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker through an interactive, kid-friendly performance blending classical and jazz interpretations of the iconic score.
A featured ballerina will bring the music to life through expressive movement, dancing close to the audience so children can observe gesture, storytelling, and musicality up close. Live musicians will guide families through familiar melodies, encouraging gentle participation through singing, swaying, clapping, or simple guided movement. Interactive elements introduce musical concepts such as rhythm, tempo, and dynamics in playful, accessible ways.
After the performance, families are invited to explore instruments, meet the musicians, observe instruments up close, and ask questions.
Arrive early for complimentary arts and crafts with the SPAC Education team, a Nutcracker-themed self-service photo station, and a picture book giveaway in the lobby while supplies last.
Nutcracker Notes is most enjoyed by kids ages 2–8, but offers seasonal fun for the whole family!
General admission tickets are $15. Children two (2) and under are admitted free to sit on your lap; a ticket is required if they need a seat.
