Jeffrey Gaines

Soulful singer-songwriter Jeffrey Gaines has been called “the voice of a generation” by Rolling Stone. Known for his soul-searching lyrics and powerful live performances, Gaines captivates audiences with just his voice, guitar, and considerable charisma. Raised by soul-music-loving parents, he has an irresistible “soul-folkie’s sexy growl” (MoJo).

Over more than 30 years of touring and recording, Gaines has sold out theaters and clubs throughout North America and Europe. He has been a special guest on tours with Sting, Melissa Etheridge, and Tracy Chapman, among others, and recently appeared as a special guest on Roger Daltrey’s tour. Pollstar recognized him as a top live solo artist for his emotional honesty, commanding vocals, and connection with audiences.

Gaines began his recording career with his acclaimed self-titled 1992 debut, featuring “Hero in Me.” His career now spans eight albums. His interpretation of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” became one of his best-loved recordings and introduced his voice to a wider audience.

When the lights go down and the room gets quiet, Gaines’s songs feel immediate and unguarded. His interpretations make familiar music feel newly discovered, and his voice can fill a room without overwhelming the song. Caffè Lena is an especially fitting place to hear him.
