About
Join us for an evening of Adirondack history featuring fire towers and the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Author Martin "Marty" Podskoch weaves together the history and stories surrounding the Adirondack fire towers in the words of the observers, rangers, and pilots. He will also talk about the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a public works program that operated from 1933 to 1942 as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. These camps operated in 26 locations throughout the Adirondack counties of Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, St. Lawrence, and Warren.
Martin "Marty" Podskoch is a Connecticut author and historian recognized for his extensive work documenting the history of the Catskills and the Adirondacks. He has authored ten books, including Adirondack Civilian Conservation Corps: History, Memories & Legacy of the CCC and two volumes of Adirondack Fire Towers: Their History and Lore.
Books will be available for purchase.
