Join us on the farm for an afternoon of autumnal activities, refreshments, and pumpkin smashing. Each household may bring one pumpkin (no more than one) to compost using our Community Compost program’s vertical drum system and our very own trebuchet.
Autumnal activities will be led by the Children’s Museum and Wilton Wildlife. Let’s embrace the process of diverting food scraps together by launching pumpkins into the air, then scooping them up into the compost bins.
Please note: Pumpkins with glitter or paint cannot be composted. Please do not bring them to the pumpkin smash!
The vertical drum system is part of a larger initiative launched in 2025 at Pitney Meadows Community Farm in partnership with Sustainable Saratoga. Our Community Compost Program is designed to reduce food waste, educate residents on sustainable composting practices, and create a closed-loop system that benefits the environment and local food systems.
