Sweet Leaf
Vinny Dawson (aka Ozzy) is a pioneer in the tribute circuit. He has performed with AC/DC tributes and is the founder of KISSTORY, a local tribute band where he played Gene and Ace. For Sweet Leaf, he is the founding member and front man—the Prince of Darkness.
Mike Hughes (aka Tony) has played lead guitar in Brother Tadpole and recently completed a nine-year run with local southern rock band Beatin’ the Odds. He previously played in a Santana tribute. “Is a wall of Marshalls too much for this room?”
John Caulkins (aka Geezer) is an Albany music scene veteran of some 30 years. He has fronted horn bands Downtown Horns and Vehicle, played with Terrible Chester and Kinetic Punch, and performed with the Dead cover band Slipknot, Still at Large, Failure to Adapt, and Fat Mojo. He brings that range of experience to the music of Geezer Butler.
OJ Barr (aka Bill) brings the beats. He was the drummer for local metal band CHINA WHITE and also played with Beatin’ the Odds and other local acts.
Together, Vinny, Mike, John, and OJ faithfully deliver an evening of Sabbath, covering songs from the debut album Black Sabbath through Never Say Die. The material helped change rock and roll and lay the groundwork for heavy metal.
The Ultimate Sin
Formed in the Capital Region, The Ultimate Sin celebrates Ozzy’s solo catalog. Fronted by vocalist Vinny Dawson, the band performs Ozzy’s songs with his distinctive stage presence, mannerisms, and vocal style. They have built a reputation across Upstate New York for authentic live shows.
Named after Ozzy’s multi-platinum 1986 solo album The Ultimate Sin, the band performs guitar solos originally played by Randy Rhoads, Jake E. Lee, and Zakk Wylde, and has become a fixture of the local rock scene.
