The Hyde Summer Luncheon
Monday, July 20, 2026
The Sagamore Resort
Here at The Hyde, summer means sharing our gratitude with dedicated champions during the annual Luncheon on the shores of Lake George. This year, we celebrate friend and volunteer Penny Howell Jolly, Ph. D, Professor Emerita of Art History, Skidmore College. Penny currently serves on The Hyde’s Collections & Exhibitions Committee and helped bring the Renaissance Palazzo exhibition to the Museum with Curator Dr. Bryn Schockmel. She has strengthened the Museum’s scholarship through research on key works in the collection, developing interpretive texts for its online database and forthcoming gallery guide.
On Monday, July 20, The Hyde will host the 2026 Hyde Summer Luncheon at The Sagamore Resort on Shelving Rock Terrace as we celebrate Penny’s impact on the Museum and our community. The Summer Luncheon, held annually to recognize the late Charlotte Miller’s commitment to the arts, allows us to highlight the achievements of scholarly volunteers like Penny while raising capacity-building funds for The Hyde.
The Luncheon also offers a chance to network with industry leaders across arts and culture, tourism and hospitality, healthcare, and more. With an average attendance of 175–200 guests, the event offers prospective sponsors and advertisers brand visibility across our community and throughout the event space.
We invite you to show your support by joining the Honorary Committee, or by becoming a sponsor or advertiser. To take full advantage of the recognition opportunities outlined, we appreciate receiving your commitment no later than June 5. If you have questions, please contact Director of Development Christine Hoard at events@hydecollection.org or 518-792-1761 ext. 320.

2026 Luncheon Honoree: Penny Jolly
Penny serves on The Hyde’s Collections & Exhibitions Committee and was instrumental in bringing the Renaissance Palazzo exhibition to the Museum in partnership with Curator Dr. Bryn Schockmel. Over the past year she has deepened her scholarly engagement through research on key works in the collection—currently focusing on Medieval, Renaissance, and Impressionist paintings—to develop both long- and short-form texts for the Museum’s searchable online database and an upcoming gallery guidebook.
A Professor Emerita of Art History at Skidmore College, Penny Howell Jolly’s scholarship focuses on late medieval and Renaissance European art of the thirteenth to sixteenth centuries. She has published on artists such as Giotto, Jan van Eyck, Rogier van der Weyden, and Antonello da Messina, as well as holy figures including Mary Magdalene, Adam and Eve, and Jerome. Her current research interests include topics such as pregnancy, childbirth, and early modern domestic arts, as well as meanings of dress and hair. Her longstanding service to The Hyde dates to the tenure of former Curator James Kettlewell, and she continues to mentor current Curator Bryn Schockmel, a Skidmore alumna.
