The Battle of Gettysburg took place on July 1st - 3rd in 1863. Fifty years later, a 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the great battle took place in Gettysburg. It was nicknamed The Second Battle of Gettysburg.

  • 53,407 veterans attended, 44,713 Union solders and 8,694 Confederate soldiers.
  • The Battle of Gettysburg will be briefly discussed.
  • The speaker will focus on the role of the U. S. Army played, what it took to ready the site, the feeding care of 53,407 veterans.
  • Look at the challenges dealing with the weather of July of 1913 and getting the vets home after so many lost the train tickets.

Ron Grabriele over the last ten years has shared his love of history with audiences all around the Mid-Hudson Valley. Ron has spoken on a variety of historical subjects from “pop history” such as the history of Western Movies and the history of Old Time Radio to deeply serious subjects such as Pearl Harbor and the history of War Dogs.
