The Story of Step Afrika!
Founded in 1994 by C. Brian Williams, Step Afrika! is the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping. Under Williams’ leadership, stepping has evolved into one of America’s cultural exports, touring more than 70 countries. Step Afrika! ranks among the top ten African-American dance companies in the United States.
Step Afrika! blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities, traditional West and Southern African dances, and contemporary dance and art forms. Performances integrate songs, storytelling, humor, and audience participation.
Individual ticket buyers: Fill out the reservation form. You will receive an email with payment instructions. All patrons, regardless of age, must purchase admission.

Changes to the number reserved or cancellations must be made in writing at least 45 days before the event. Payment is due 30 days before the event. No refunds or exchanges will be made after the 30-day deadline. The teacher or individual making the reservation is the contact person and is responsible for ensuring payment is made by the deadline.
Buses will unload and load in front of the theater.
For more information, contact Adelina Borman, Director of Education, at [email protected].
Snow date policy: A performance will be cancelled if a closing or delay affects the majority of schools scheduled to attend. All ticket-holders will be moved to the published snow date; schools should make arrangements for published snow dates. If weather interferes, ticket-holders will be notified by email of any changes, which will also be posted on the website.
If no snow date is scheduled and a performance is cancelled due to weather, we will first do our best to accommodate ticket-holders at another performance in the Daytime Series. If other performances are sold out and we cannot accommodate ticket-holders, payment will be returned.
There is no elevator at either theater. Call or email the box office to arrange ADA seating.
Additional performance: Thursday, February 11, 2027, at 12:00 pm at the Bardavon. Make a reservation.
