Intro to Joinery: Build a Footstool (Day 1)

Please note: This class is designed as a follow-up to our Foundations of Woodworking: Hand Tools and Machine Tools classes. These prerequisites provide basic skills in handling the tools used in this class. Students with equivalent shop experience are also encouraged to apply.

Practice your hand tool skills and learn to make basic wood joints by building your own footstool, which can also be used as a step stool. You’ll learn how to make half-lap joints, mortise and tenon joints, and stop tenons, using each joint to maximize the strength of the wood. Using joinery instead of fasteners helps ensure your piece is high quality, solid, and long-lasting.
