WHAT WE CARRY The Debut Concert of the Barnhill Movement Collective Presented by Create A Space NOW

"WHAT WE CARRY" is the inaugural concert of the Barnhill Movement Collective (BMC), a contemporary and physical theatre dance company rooted in New York's Capital Region and founded by award-winning choreographer and director Hettie Barnhill under Create A Space NOW.

This evening-length performance explores the visible and invisible weight we carry as individuals and as a society. Through physically driven choreography, ensemble-based storytelling, and interdisciplinary design elements, the work examines:
- identity
- power
- labor
- democracy
- anxiety
- resilience
- responsibility

Each piece reflects how history, systems, relationships, and lived experiences reside in the body.

Comprised of artists who work, live, train, teach, and create within the Capital Region, BMC is committed to strengthening the local cultural ecosystem through bold, socially engaged performance. Blending contemporary dance with physical theatre, the company moves between intimacy and urgency, stillness and momentum, asking what we inherit, what we endure, and what we choose to hold, release, or transform.
