About

Meet New York Times bestselling author Mark Bittman to celebrate his new book, How to Cook Everything Vegan, and discover the possibilities of plant-based cooking.

Whether you’re already a committed vegan, an enthusiastic part-time vegan, or just plant-curious, Mark Bittman provides a roadmap for plant-based food free from ultra-processed alternatives and junk food.

In conversation with WAMC host Joe Donahue, Bittman will discuss his newest book in the How to Cook Everything series, with hundreds of vegan dishes to cook from scratch. Straightforward recipes and variations, technique and ingredient guides, and advice on substitutions, seasonings, leftovers, and using what’s already in your fridge, freezer, and pantry help turn basic cooking into flexible meals, snacks, and desserts. As Bittman says, “Let’s cook some plants.”

Guests will enjoy dinner tastings from How to Cook Everything Vegan, alongside wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. A book signing will follow the conversation and Q&A. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a copy of the book and have it signed.

Main course tastings:
- First course: Rootshimi (VG, GF); root chips (VG, GF)
- Second course: Portobello Steaks with Creamy Herb Sauce (VG, GF); Braised Hearty Greens (VG, GF)
- Third course: Stuffed Whole Cabbage (VG); Crunchy Glazed Polenta (VG, GF)

The conversation will be recorded for future broadcast on WAMC’s The Roundtable.
