About

Join a 1.5-mile walking tour highlighting African American history in Saratoga Springs, NY. The tour showcases important businesses, legendary jockeys, and the critical impact of African Americans in the area, with relevant musical interludes along the way.

Tours take place every Saturday from May through September. Tours start at 10:00 AM and end at 12:30 PM, beginning in front of Frederick Allen Lodge at 69 Beekman Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

A $20 donation per adult is requested. The tour is free for youth under 18 (must be accompanied by an adult). Registration and donations can be made online. For questions, contact 518-633-2387 or maryacarter362@gmail.com.

Tour guidelines:
- Wear comfortable clothing and walking footwear; bring a water bottle.
- All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Use crosswalks, follow traffic signals, and watch for uneven sidewalks.
- There is a stopping point for sitting in Congress Park.
- If unwell, you are welcome to attend another day.
- Tours may be postponed due to dangerous weather conditions.

Attending supports Frederick Allen Elks Lodge #609 & Mary A. Carter Temple #362, the oldest African American civic organizations in Saratoga Springs.
