About
In 1774, the people of Schenectady raised a bold flag of protest. This simple blue banner, emblazoned with the word "Liberty," marked the town's entrance into the struggle between Britain and her American colonies. Communities across Revolutionary America raised similar flags and brought them to battle. Today, Schenectady's Liberty Flag is the only surviving example.
This presentation by the Schenectady County Historical Society discusses this rare and priceless artifact, which is currently on display at the Society.
