Join us on April 29th for a special album release concert from Benji Marx & Gem Jr. Band!
Gem is a Hudson Valley–based singer-songwriter and former lead singer of the band Rootbrew. Her solo album Remind Me, released during the pandemic, is finally being brought to life five years later with the debut of the Gem Jr. Band. The songs are personal yet accessible, whimsical yet thoughtful, blending folk roots with soul and subtle pop.
Gem plays guitar and sings with the ridiculously fortunate accompaniment of Matt Schulz on lead guitar, John Valesio (who helped produce and record the album in his Green Room studios) on bass, Estephan Colindres on drums, and Gabriel Marquez on keys. Together they create an intimate and luminously funky live sound.
Benji Marx is a Kingston, NY–based singer-songwriter whose indie folk-rock songs live in the space where a well-turned phrase meets a melody you can't shake. Quiet observations about the world and the people in it make his music feel personal the first time you hear it and familiar the second.
His sophomore album Bright Bright Winter Light arrives as a meditation on life's inevitable shifts—the endings, the beginnings, and the tender uncertainty of everything in between. Rooted in honest storytelling and intimate arrangements, the record showcases a songwriter learning to find beauty in transition. Whether performing solo or with a full band, Benji brings a rare attentiveness to the stage, the kind that makes a room lean in.
