Arduino Workshop
October 10th, 1:00-4:00pm
Instructor: Richard St. Pierre
Discover the exciting world of electronics and Arduino microcontrollers in this hands-on workshop. The session will introduce common electronic components, sensors and add-ons that build on the capabilities of the microcontrollers. Participants will explore accessories of popular Arduino development kits that are a natural extension to the microcontroller resources. Students will be introduced to analog and digital signal interfacing techniques. Using software libraries makes the programming task easier and faster to reach success.
Common terms explained:
- INPUT, OUTPUT, I2C, SPI, UART, ADC, DAC, PWM, IRQ, Multiplexing
The workshop will guide the exploration of simple methods that give you control of:
- voltage, current, temperature, humidity, PH, light or sound levels, motion
- using accessories such as: LEDS, displays, thermistors, Motors (Servo, stepper, brush-less), Solenoid
- in applications including: animation, automation, security, entertainment, instrumentation, robotics, music, education, gaming...
Students are encouraged to bring curiosity or project ideas that they would like to explore.
"How would I do ....", "I want to do....", "I am curious about..."
By the end of the workshop, students will have interfaced multiple sensors and acquired the skills and grown confidence to explore development of prototype microcontroller system designs.
