A Confluence of Cultures
Location
About
This program explores the history of the Haudenosaunee (hoe-dee-no-SHOW-nee) settlement, trade, and culture as European contact grew along the Mohawk and Schoharie Valleys. Called the Iroquois Confederacy by the French, and the League of Five Nations by the English, the confederacy is properly called the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, meaning People of the Longhouse.
In this program, David Brooks will talk about the patterns of settlement, what the archeological record reveals, and how the chain of alliance impacted the People of the Longhouse.
David Brooks is the Education Director of Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site.
