About

Green Kill Sessions presents Mark Donato w/ Mark Lerner and Jay Godfrey, Saturday, May 30, 8 PM.

Time Out New York: "Mark Donato is a smart (but not eggheady!) songwriter from upstate whose new album, I Haven't Wasted All This Time Alone (Rag and Bone Shop), is alternately sweet, witty and wry."

Chronogram: "For Donato, never-again relationships, never-to-be loves, imminent death, and the unrepenting music industry are what great songs are made from. Especially when they are presented with a dash of Caribbean pop ("Moods of Extreme Desire") and country-tonk charm ("Caretaker")."

All livestreams are freely available on the YouTube Green Kill Sessions channel and on greenkill.substack.com. Please consider making a five dollar donation. For access to full livestream videos for each event, subscribe monthly or annually to Green Kill Substack.

In-person Tickets:
Green Kill’s live events are intimate livestream productions with space for up to 30 guests. Once we reach capacity, the doors will be closed—so arrive early to be sure you get a seat!

Tickets are $10, payable in cash at the door. Just drop your payment in the ticket jar when you arrive.

Please plan to arrive about 10 minutes before showtime so we can get everyone settled before the event begins.

Support Green Kill:
Green Kill is 100 percent volunteer run. The money generated through subscriptions, donations and ticket sales pays performers and the sound engineer and operation costs of the facility. Please consider donating using Venmo or PayPal. A single donation of five dollars from all subscribers helps immensely to insure Green Kill will be able to continue supporting artists.

Mark Donato:
Mark Donato grew up musically in southwestern Pennsylvania, Downtown New York City, and Upstate New York. He’s worked as a drummer and singer with John Linnell of They Might Be Giants, Amy Allison, Flat Old Word, Rosine, and the Oswalds, while piling up songs for his own releases.

He writes eccentric and poetic rock songs and earthy, experimental pop that’s profound and tuneful, layered with subtle irony, humanistic pathos, and a kind of psychological perfect pitch.

He has 7 full-length records and many more songs ready to be dressed and served. His new record is called "Community Theater," in honor of the honorable tradition of locals performing for locals, and locals listening. Joining Mark on the record, and in his live appearances, are some of the finest musicians in the Hudson Valley.

Green Kill Sessions Program:
- One-hour livestream shows with a small in-person audience (30 seats) and global livestream access.
- Performances happen Friday through Sunday evenings (except the first and third Fridays).
- Performers are expected to help promote their shows, arrive early for sound checks, and send in equipment lists ahead of time.
- The venue provides a full sound and lighting setup, including drums, amps, a digital piano, and livestream equipment.
- Earnings from ticket sales are split among performers, the venue, and the sound engineer—so promotion and turnout matter. Green Kill shares event highlights on YouTube and Substack, giving performers lasting, professional-quality footage to use for promotion.
