Basic Bitches / Skirting / The Roulettes

Naomi Scott (guitar, vocals) and Krystal Grow (drums, vocals) are BASIC BITCHES. The queer punk rock two-piece are familiar faces in NYC’s Riot Grrrl / DIY scene. They recently clawed their way out of Brooklyn’s basement stages and carted their amps upstate—because you can make as much noise as you want in the country.

They crank out original songs from The Green Room, their in-house practice space and DIY recording studio, and tour throughout New York and around the world. They’re known for the welcoming vibe of their live shows, along with their ear-grabbing musical hooks, witty lyrics and tits-to-the-glass exuberance.

Skirting is an all femme/themme post-punk band based in New York City and Joshua Tree. Grounded in shared influences, Skirting's sound draws inspiration from 90s Riot Grrrl bands like Sleater-Kinney, women-driven and political post-punk bands of the 70s and 80s such as the Slits, The Raincoats, and Gang of Four, and a love of grunge and goth. Skirting made their debut in 2023 and have released two EPs: What You've Been Told (2024) and Wants and Needs on 10" vinyl (2026).

While the members have been making music for much of their lives, they find a special connection in creating feminist noise at a time in their lives when women and femmes are expected to fade to the background and remove themselves from public life and stages.

The Roulettes thought they played their last show in Portland, OR, in 2004. A guy wrote "It's about time they shut the f**k up" on their poster at Kelly's Olympian Bar. Alas for him, they did not! The band re-emerged in NYC from a grad-school hiatus in 2009, slowly rebuilding with founding members drummer/singer Rachel Hass and singer/guitarist Rebecca Keith (also the frontwoman of Little Hustle) and powerhouse bassist Alice Danger (who fronts her own solo project of the same name).

Energized by being back in their hometown, the band released their first EP in 20 years, Mommy Comes Back, in 2024. The Deli describes their first new single, "Batter Up," as "a fresh and feisty burst of inspiration." "Wife is Talking," a stand-alone single, followed on Election Day 2025.
