Join us for an exciting nighttime exploration of the hidden world of insects and moths with entomologist Jerry Dievendorf. This guided program introduces participants to the incredible diversity of insect species that emerge after dark and the important roles they play in our ecosystem.

Using safe, non-harmful blacklight traps and fermenting solutions painted on trees, we will attract moths, beetles, aquatic insects and more for close observation. Participants will learn how to identify common species and explore insect activity that often goes unseen. All moths will be released unharmed after observation.

About Jerry: Jerry is an Entomologist who has traveled around the equator to tropical rainforests to study insects, especially moths. He is President of FRASS, a tax-exempt organization approved to operate an insect museum and a live butterfly exhibit in the Capital District. He serves as the Science Chairman and Entomology instructor for Heldeberg Workshop in Voorheesville, which operates a summer day camp for children.

The program is suitable for nature and insect enthusiasts of all ages. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore the night.
