"The Queer Liberation Working Group of Mid-Hudson Valley Democratic Socialists of America will host a talk on Harvey Milk who is the first openly LGBTQ+ public official in California and one of the first in the United States. We intend to hold a discussion around what it means to achieve queer liberation and how this differs from public tolerance. We believe queer liberation is not solely a political movement for civil rights; it is a movement to dismantle oppressive systems like heteronormativity, cisnormativity, and capitalism. Harvey Milk is a queer icon and we want to celebrate his legacy of queer civil rights organizing while striving for a world of not just queer tolerance, but celebration."

This film is presented by Big Gay Hudson Valley and the Rosendale Theatre Collective.

The Rosendale Theatre’s programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
