About
Two artists who helped shape and document defining eras of rock’n’roll come together in their chosen home of Hudson, New York, for a conversation about music, memory, and creative community.
As bassist for Hole and The Smashing Pumpkins, Melissa Auf der Maur toured the world with a camera in hand, documenting life backstage, onstage, and in the crowd. She went on to co-found Basilica Hudson, a multidisciplinary arts institution in Hudson. Her 2026 memoir, Even the Good Girls Will Cry, and companion photo book, My ’90s Rock Photographs, offer an intimate portrait of alternative rock’s heyday and a time capsule for Generation X.
Decades before MTV, visual artist and director Michael Lindsay-Hogg was pioneering music videos for The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who. His films The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus and Let It Be captured rock’s great innovators at a moment of extraordinary change. His 2011 memoir, Luck and Circumstance, recounts a life among cultural icons, while Peter Jackson’s 2024 restoration of Let It Be brought his work to a new generation. That same year, Hudson Hall audiences discovered another side of his storytelling through a solo exhibition of his paintings.
Join these two local luminaries as they share stories from two extraordinary chapters in music history and the paths that led them to Hudson. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A, book signing, and reception with music by DJBNNYBRNS.
