Join artist Karl Nussbaum on Upstate Art Weekend for an inside look at the making of Ghost Dance for America, 1890 (on view June 25 – July 5, 2026). Nussbaum will discuss the inspiration, creation, and meaning behind the captivating video installation, offering insight into both its historical roots and its immersive form.
Karl Nussbaum is an award-winning experimental filmmaker and video installation artist based in Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley. His projections have been staged across the U. S., Europe, and Asia, and his films presented at prestigious festivals and venues such as the Sundance Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Lincoln Center, and the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum.
